How to Prepare for Your Chemical Peel, and What to Expect for Your Treatment?

Regardless of age, many men and women struggle with tired and dull skin on their faces. This can cause people to look tired, worn out, and much, much older than they actually are. While you can use makeup to try to cover up these skin concerns, isn’t it better to treat them directly? If you answer yes, then chemical peels might just be your solution.

At SoCal Cool Body, we are proud to offer three revolutionary chemical peel treatments to help you achieve the revitalized and youthful facial aesthetic that you’ve been missing.

How Should I Prepare for My Chemical Peel?

One of the most important aspects of your chemical peel is your consultation. At your chemical peel consultation, you will have the chance to discuss your cosmetic frustrations and goals, while your skin care professional is able to evaluate your condition to determine if a chemical peel is right for you and also which chemical peel treatment will be most effective.

At SoCal Cool Body, we offer the Illuminize Peel®, Vitalize Peel®, and Rejuvenize Peel™. Each of these peels is effective for treating age-related skin concerns (wrinkles and fine lines) as well as other skin blemishes. The difference between these peels comes down to the extent of correction needed.

Once you have decided to undergo a chemical peel treatment, it is important that you prepare your skin for the procedure. Some of the best ways to get yourself ready include:

  • Refraining from exfoliating your skin
  • Refraining from wearing makeup
  • Avoiding the sun as much as possible
  • Limiting or stopping certain medication use (this will be discussed during your consultation)

How Is a Chemical Peel Performed?

Chemical peels are a relatively simple procedure that is performed on an outpatient basis. Depending on the chemical peel chosen, local anesthesia may be used to limit any discomfort you may feel during your procedure. Next, your skin care professional will apply the chemical agent to the treatment area (usually the entire face). After the designated amount of time, the chemical solution will be removed from your skin. Over the next several days, the top layers of treated skin will flake off naturally to expose healthy and new skin that can help you look more youthful and radiant.
