All You Need to Know About LATISSE®

We all want those beautiful, luscious lashes that make our eyes pop. Still, only a few of us are that lucky. Around 51% of the women say that their eyelashes are not looking their best, becoming thinner over time. These women admit to using much more mascara than they like, trying to make their eyelashes thicker and more voluminous. Moreover, to get the effect of full fringes around the eyes, many women also resort to eyelash extensions.

However, if you do not want fake eyelashes weighing your eyelids down uncomfortably, science came up with another alternative: the LATISSE® serum. Designed to help you grow your lashes, LATISSE® has gained quite a bit of popularity over the years, so you might be interested in using it as well. You’ve come to the right place because this blog will tell you everything you need to know about the LATISSE® serum.

What Is LATISSE®?

LATISSE® eyelash serum is a product approved by the FDA for those women and men who deal with scant lashes and volume loss and want to grow their lashes.

Based on bimatoprost, LATISSE® was originally used as eye drops to treat glaucoma, but the patients noticed an interesting LATISSE® side effect: their lashes grew longer and thicker. This gave scientists the idea that the treatment could also work against lash loss.

Areas Treatable With LATISSE®

LATISSE® is recommended for the following two areas:

  • Eyelashes
LATISSE® is a very effective treatment when used on the eyelashes, but you should only apply the serum on the upper eyelid, and not the lower one. LATISSE® can lead to some side effects if it comes in contact with the surface of your skin constantly. So, at SoCal Cool Body, we only recommend that you apply LATISSE® on the margin of the upper lid, at the base of your eyelashes.

  • Eyebrows
While LATISSE® is mostly used on the eyelashes, research shows that the serum may also be used on the eyebrows. However, please note that its effectiveness may be affected by different factors. For example, if you apply the serum incorrectly and do not reach the roots, then you might not notice remarkable results. Also, if there is an underlying cause for your eyebrow loss, the serum might not be able to do much for you. In this case, you should treat the cause rather than the surface symptoms.

What to Expect With LATISSE®?

If you apply LATISSE® daily, then you should see the results after four weeks of use, and the effects will be maintained for as long as you use the serum. Once you stop applying the treatment, your lashes will gradually return to the volume and length they had before using LATISSE®. However, keep in mind that the results are different for each patient.

To obtain the best effects, you should use the treatment in the morning. This way, the solution won’t rub into the pillow, rendering it ineffective. Another tip to remember is that you should always use the dose recommended by your medical provider, which is one drop per day. Using more than that won’t lead to faster results but may irritate your eyelids instead.

Last, but not least, do not touch the tip of the bottle or the applicator because you put yourself at risk of bacterial contamination, which can lead to infection. And don’t forget to always wash your hands before using the serum.

Verdict: Should You Use LATISSE®?

LATISSE® can be a good solution for treating eyelash problems, ultimately giving you that luscious fringe around your eyes. If you are tired of constantly applying fake eyelashes and mascara or getting eyelash extensions, then LATISSE® may be the option you are looking for to help you grow your lashes naturally.
