Combining Treatments for a Beautiful Aesthetic

When you want to obtain that smooth and youthful look, combining aesthetic treatments can be a great way for you to reach your goal. Combination therapy has become increasingly popular among millennials in the past few years, saving a lot of time for those who are always on the go

But what exactly does it mean to combine treatments, and how can it benefit you? What are the substances generally used in cosmetic combination therapy? Why would you want to go for this approach in the first place? Well, let’s find out in this blog.

Products Used in Combination Treatments

At SoCal Cool Body, we usually use the following treatments for a beautiful aesthetic:

  • BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX® Cosmetic is made from botulinum toxin, a protein with the ability to temporarily relax your facial muscles. The injections will stop the signals from the brain that tell your muscles to contract, helping you reduce dynamic wrinkles. Our BOTOX® Cosmetic before and after pictures show great improvement for crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, and fine lines.

BOTOX® Cosmetic in itself does not add more volume to the face, as many people seem to believe. Other than relaxing the muscles to prevent wrinkling, it does nothing to change your facial structure. This is why it is generally used for people who do not lack facial volume.

  • Dermal Fillers

Unlike BOTOX® Cosmetic, which allows you to keep your current facial structure, dermal filler injections fill your face in a natural way. This makes this injectable a good option when you want to replenish the lost volume or enhance certain areas of your face.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is added to the areas that get more movement, whereas dermal fillers, like JUVÉDERM®, are usually added in the static areas, including the area underneath your eyes, your sunken cheeks, or your nasolabial wrinkles.

Why Use Them Together?

There are several reasons why you should combine treatments for a beautiful aesthetic. Here are our suggestions:

1. Prolonged Times

By combining treatments, you get the advantage of a prolonged effect. For example, BOTOX® Cosmetic lasts around three to four months. The timeline is slightly different for dermal fillers, but they still don’t typically  last longer than one year.

However, according to studies, combination therapy allows for the dermal filler to stay in your system longer. This is because the BOTOX® Cosmetic reduces muscle contraction, helping the filler break down at a slower rate.

2. Reduced Recovery Time

Dermal fillers and BOTOX® Cosmetic have their own recovery times. As your skin is now accommodating the BOTOX® Cosmetic or the filler, you can probably expect some bruising, injection pain, and other filler or BOTOX® Cosmetic side effects.

By combining the treatment, you can merge two recovery sessions into one. The side effects are generally nothing to be too worried about, and the injections are performed in different areas, making them perfectly safe. Not only will this save you money on consultation fees, but it will also allow you to get back to your daily routine sooner.

3. Better Effects

Sometimes, despite your best hopes and efforts, one injectable product may not be enough to get the effect that you desire. For instance, let’s say that you want a BOTOX® Cosmetic lip flip, to prevent your lips from “disappearing” when you smile. If your lips are already thin, BOTOX® Cosmetic may not be enough, so a filler can be added as well.

Or perhaps you have different areas to approach, which require various filler types. For instance, you can use BOTOX® Cosmetic on your crow’s feet and forehead to make your upper face look younger and dermal fillers on the lower area, for a completed effect.

Should You Combine Treatments?

Combining aesthetic treatments can help you obtain beautiful results in a short amount of time. You just need to pick the right combination for you, depending on your specific needs. By scheduling an appointment with SoCal Cool Body, we can establish which combination of injectables works best for you.

For more information about combination therapy, you can contact SoCal Cool Body. You can call 760-298-8078 and 951-397-0530 for our practices in Palm Desert and Murrieta respectively. You can also use our online contact form, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Debunking 3 Myths About CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting is a way to target and reduce fat cells in your body. This is a great way to target fatty parts of your body that diet or exercise just do not seem to eliminate. Unlike liposuction, this is an invasive treatment. According to Consumer Reports, there have been more than 8 million CoolSculpting treatments completed around the world. Unfortunately, there are many myths surrounding this cosmetic procedure. Here are three common myths people have and their corresponding truths!

1. CoolSculpting Is Only For the Stomach Region

One of the myths surrounding this cosmetic treatment is that it is only used on the stomach region. While the stomach is one of the areas that is frequently targeted by individuals undergoing this treatment, it is not the only body part that can be treated. CoolSculpting can be performed on the back, butt, thighs, knees, arms, chest, and chin.

2. The Results Are Permanent

Another common misconception surrounding this cosmetic treatment is that the results are permanent. CoolSculpting breaks up your fat cells in a specific part of your body. However, fat cells can return if you do not eat a healthy diet and continue to exercise. As such, your fat can return if you overeat or do not maintain a healthy weight. To maximize your results and to help them to last, you should always continue to eat a healthy diet and exercise.

3. CoolSculpting Tightens Skin

The final myth surrounding this cosmetic procedure is that this procedure tightens your skin. This is not true at all. CoolSculpting breaks down fat cells. It can reduce about 20 to 25 percent of your weight in a specific area, which usually equates to only a pound or two. Skin is elastic, and it usually bounces back after small amounts of fat are removed, giving the appearance of tighter skin. But this is only an optical illusion. If you already have sagging skin, this cosmetic procedure will not help to tighten your skin.

Most people have at least one part of their body that they are not happy with. However, despite dieting and exercising, it seems that the fat in this area simply will not budge. This is where CoolSculpting can be beneficial. This type of cosmetic procedure targets your problem areas and helps to break up fat cells, finally helping you to tone or tighten your problem area. If you are interested in learning more about CoolSculpting, and whether you may benefit from it, call us today.

Ultimate Guide to Chemical Peels

It’s true that your skin can regenerate itself every 28 days, but sometimes, it just needs a little boost so that you can say “goodbye” to those imperfections much faster. Chemical peels can be a great asset in this case, but what exactly do they entail?

What can a chemical peel do for you, and does it hurt? Are there any considerations or tips that you need to keep in mind? We’ll answer all of your questions so that you know exactly what to expect.

What Is a Chemical Peel?

Scientifically referred to as chemoexfoliation, the chemical peel uses specific caustic agents for targeted cutaneous ablation. In other words, it will use an acid solution to exfoliate and strip the outer layer of your skin in a controlled manner.

This destructive process of your epidermis will start the regenerative process of your skin, improving your production of elastin and collagen. As your skin peels off, you will see how various imperfections like age spots, acne scars, and even wrinkles will be reduced.

Types of Chemical Peels

There are three kinds of chemical peels and the one you choose depends on the condition you want to treat. Each will tackle a different layer of your skin, reducing certain imperfections. Here are the chemical peels we offer at SoCal Cool Body:

1. Superficial Chemical Peels

Superficial chemical peels are great when your skin is in relatively good condition but needs a bit of exfoliation. These chemical peels use alpha-hydroxy acid to reduce the appearance of acne and scars and will only penetrate the top layer of the skin. This chemical peel is faster and less intense, which is why many people call them “lunch peels.”

2. Medium Peel

If you have extensive sun damage, pigmentation marks, or wrinkling, a medium chemical peel might be a better choice. This treatment usually includes glycolic acid or TCA to enter the epidermal layer of your skin, giving you a deeper exfoliation effect compared to a superficial peel. If you are looking for a good chemical peel for acne scars, this one often proves to be a good option.

3. Deep Chemical Peels

Deep chemical peels are recommended when you want dramatic results. They remove the whole epidermis and can address different imperfections, skin laxity problems, uneven skin tone, or sun damage. Some people also consider it to be the best chemical peel for pre-cancerous growths, although prior consultation is necessary.

What to Expect From Chemical Peel Recovery

No matter the chemical peel type that you go in for, you can expect a certain degree of downtime and some side effects. For example, after the treatment, you can experience some itching, burning, redness, swelling, and flaking. This is normal, as the chemical is causing the specific layer of your skin to peel/shed off.

The recovery time will depend on the type of peel that you get. If you opt for a superficial peel, the process may take a few days to finalize. On the other hand, deeper peels may take up to two weeks, with the swelling lasting longer.

It is important to take very good care of your skin at this point. The flaky skin will fall on its own, so you should not start peeling it yourself as this may lead to scarring. As the skin becomes loose, you can use some small scissors to trim the skin that is peeling off.

Are Chemical Peels Good for You?

Chemical peels are a great option to reduce imperfections like scars, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles. So, if the outer layer of your skin is damaged, then a chemical peel can help you resurface it. You can call us to schedule an appointment and we’ll offer all the necessary information.

For more information about chemical peels, you can contact SoCal Cool Body at 951-397-0530 for our office in Murrieta and 760-298-8078 for our practice in Palm Desert. We would be more than happy to answer all of your questions and set up an appointment. You can also use our online contact form and we will get in touch with you as soon as possible.

Which JUVÉDERM® Formula Is Right for You?

Dermal fillers like JUVÉDERM® represent a great option for you to add more volume to your face. They can be used for your lips, your cheeks, your jawline, and other areas of your body that you believe need a little bit of “oomph.”

One thing to note is that JUVÉDERM® dermal fillers come in different formulas, each specific for a different problem. So, which one should you choose, based on your needs? Let’s discuss the different formulas, so that you know exactly what to expect.

What Is JUVÉDERM®?

JUVÉDERM® is a dermal filler that consists of hyaluronic acid (HA), which is meant to add more volume to areas with wrinkles or hollowed skin. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in your body, keeping your skin plump, firm, and youthful. However, as you age, your skin is no longer able to produce as much hyaluronic acid.

JUVÉDERM® aims to replenish your HA content, restoring the facial contour and improving aging signs. The substance injected in the problem area will not only add more volume but will also trigger natural collagen production. The effects can last for up to 18 months, but we recommend you go for yearly touch-ups to maintain your look.

Different JUVÉDERM® Alternatives

JUVÉDERM® comes in different formulas, usually used on the mid and lower areas of your face. The formulas can be found in simple and “XC” versions (common option), the latter meaning that it includes lidocaine so that you do not experience pain or discomfort during the procedure.

So, after a consultation at SoCal Cool Body, we may recommend the following JUVÉDERM® formulas:

1. JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA® XC

If you want to correct vertical lip lines and add subtle volume to your lips, JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA® XC is a great option. It is popular among those women and men who are noticing early-onset signs of aging. Featuring the thinnest formula of JUVÉDERM®, it does a better job at treating fine lines than deep wrinkles. However, this exact formula makes it the perfect choice for filling your under-eye area.

2. JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE™ XC

JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE™ XC is usually the best option when you want to treat marionette lines (i.e., the lines on the side of your mouth and nose). It has a medium consistency, something between VOLBELLA® and VOLUMA™. It’s thick enough to enter your deeper folds and fix them, but it’s soft enough to allow comfortable facial movement. The results of this treatment may last for up to 18 months.

3. JUVÉDERM® ULTRA XC

If you are looking for a JUVÉDERM® lip treatment, then JUVÉDERM® ULTRA XC can be a suitable solution for your needs. It can be used no matter if you lose volume to aging, or simply dream of bigger lips. Aside from its popular lip filler purpose, JUVÉDERM® ULTRA XC may also be used for treating cheek wrinkles or creases around your mouth.

4. JUVEDERM® ULTRA PLUS XC

When JUVÉDERM® ULTRA XC is not enough for you, JUVÉDERM® ULTRA PLUS XC can offer more dramatic results. ULTRA PLUS XC has a thicker formula compared to the regular ULTRA XC, making it good for deeper wrinkles or heavily sunken skin. Moreover, if you want those big lips often sported by celebrities on TV, ULTRA PLUS can offer more dramatic results. Being the thickest formula of them all, it is your “go big or go home” option.

5. JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ XC

JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ XC is mostly used for cheek augmentation. After a certain age, you may lose volume in your cheeks, which gives you that hollow look in your eyes. JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ XC can refill and plump those hollows, making you look radiant and healthy. Through its action, it can contour and lift your sunken cheeks, an effect that can last for up to two years.

Reduce Wrinkles With JUVÉDERM®

JUVÉDERM® was made with different formulas so that it can help different categories of people reach the results that they desire. That being said, finding the right option for you can be quite challenging and that’s why we’re here to help. Schedule your consultation with SoCal Cool Body, and we’ll find the right treatment for you.

For more information about the different forms of JUVÉDERM®, you can contact SoCal Cool Body at 951-397-0530 (Murrieta) or 760-298-8078 (Palm Desert). We are more than happy to answer all your questions. Our contact form is also available every time you have an inquiry.

Can You Get BOTOX® Cosmetic Treatment While Pregnant?

They say that pregnancy makes you glow with beauty, but that “glow” may only boil down to bigger breasts and a massive belly. On the other hand, your skin might look tired, as if it has seen better days. So, when pregnancy takes a toll on you, you might be looking for something that can enhance your beauty and make you look and feel more confident. That’s where BOTOX® Cosmetic comes in.

But can pregnant women get BOTOX® Cosmetic? Is it safe, and are there any precautions that you need to keep in mind? Thankfully, you don’t have to let go of your beauty standards when you become pregnant, but there are a couple of things to be careful of. In this blog, we will address the safety of BOTOX® Cosmetic for women who are bringing new life into the world.

What Is BOTOX® Cosmetic?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is an injectable product made with botulinum toxin, a neurotoxin that is used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. When injected into the problem area, the substance restricts muscle movement temporarily, and since your facial muscles will no longer be able to perform wrinkle-causing movements, the wrinkles’ appearance will be reduced.

BOTOX® Cosmetic interferes with nerves that allow specific muscle movements. However, it is still considered a “drug,” which raises questions for pregnant women. However, not every drug or cosmetic treatment is dangerous during pregnancy, so a consultation with Dr. Patrick Moore will establish whether you are a candidate for BOTOX® Cosmetic or not.

BOTOX® Cosmetic While Pregnant: What Does Research Say?

There is little official research that we have on BOTOX® Cosmetic for pregnant women. The FDA labeled the substance as a Category C drug. According to research, Category C drugs hold the potential for adverse effects on the fetus, which is why caution is required. That being said, not every substance from this category can have the same effect.

There are no big studies involving the use of BOTOX® Cosmetic on pregnant women to provide an official conclusion. However, there were smaller studies conducted on women in different pregnancy stages. These women were closely monitored throughout their pregnancy, and it showed that the babies were delivered safely to term.

In the end, while there may only be a few studies on the matter, it seems that BOTOX® Cosmetic is a substance that can be safely administered during pregnancy. However, doctors still advise caution until more research is conducted

Possible Complications of BOTOX® Cosmetic During Pregnancy

Since there are very few studies on BOTOX® Cosmetic during pregnancy, it can be difficult to pinpoint what the complications may be. Sometimes, adverse reactions may arise when BOTOX® Cosmetic spreads past the injection site, leading to botulism, a condition that may be associated with muscle weakness, trouble breathing, or blurred vision.

Fetal malformations were not typically reported, but minor birth defects may still occur. It is not known yet whether the complications were caused by using BOTOX® Cosmetic during pregnancy, as only a few isolated incidents were depicted. Since 1 in 33 babies are born with birth defects every year, the causes can vary from one woman to another.

Adverse reactions are very rare if the pregnant woman is otherwise healthy, but if you are at risk of a complicated birth, Dr. Patrick Moore may suggest that you wait until after you give birth. This will prevent any complications altogether.

Verdict: Is BOTOX® Cosmetic Safe During Pregnancy?

There is little research to show that BOTOX® Cosmetic is safe to use. That’s why some healthcare providers recommend that you wait until after the pregnancy is over to reduce risks to zero. Others consider that the risks are too minimal to count. In the end, it all depends on your health status during pregnancy, and after a thorough consultation, Dr. Patrick Moore can establish whether you should use BOTOX® Cosmetic during pregnancy or not. Book your appointment now!

For more information about BOTOX® and its potential use during pregnancy, you can contact SoCal Cool Body at 951-397-0530 for our Murrieta office and 760-298-8078 for our Palm Desert location. We will answer all your questions. You may also use our online contact form to find out more details on the matter.

Why Now Is the Right Time for JUVÉDERM®

Those prime summer months are almost here, and with them comes the sand, the surf, and the pool parties and barbeques. While all of this is exciting to look forward to, so many people feel nervous when they think about socializing with friends, family, and new acquaintances. One of the main reasons that men and women may be worrying about the coming summer with all of its activities is that they are worried about facing others with an appearance that they may not be proud of having.

Woman wearing a hat at the beach

The reality is that age and lifestyle choices can cause the skin on our face (especially in our cheeks and under our eyes) to lose its youthful appearance. Additionally, skin blemishes like wrinkles and fine lines can form on our skin. Volume loss and skin blemishes on the face are some of the most frustrating and embarrassing cosmetic issues that people deal with. But the good news is that dermal fillers, like JUVÉDERM®, can help correct these problems so that you can feel proud of your new and rejuvenated facial appearance. But with summer almost here, the clock is ticking for you to achieve the appearance you desire.

What Is JUVÉDERM®, and What Does It Do?

JUVÉDERM® is an injectable cosmetic treatment that is made up of hyaluronic acid (HA). Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is found naturally in our bodies. When JUVÉDERM® is injected into the problem areas of our facial skin, the HA works to retain moisture, which fills in areas of volume loss, including wrinkles and lines. The best part of this dermal filler is that your body is naturally correcting the issues; the injectable treatment is simply working as a jumpstart to your body.

What Are Some Things I Need to Know About JUVÉDERM®?

JUVÉDERM® is a safe and effective treatment for facial skin issues and can be used to correct various areas of your face, including around the mouth and nose (nasolabial folds), on the cheeks, in the lips, and around the eyes (crow’s feet). While the results of dermal fillers like JUVÉDERM® are not permanent (wearing off and needing maintenance treatment after 18 months, or so), most people only require one treatment session to attain their desired results. This begs the question even more: Why wait to get your treatment?!

Why Do I Need to Think About Getting JUVÉDERM Now?

The reality is that volume loss and skin blemishes on the face will not go away naturally. So, if you are looking to get rid of these issues, you need to act instead of putting it off, and acting means looking into having dermal filler treatments, such as JUVÉDERM®. Another reason you might want to consider getting your JUVÉDERM® treatment now is that you will want to have your facial appearance exactly the way you want it by those summer months when you will be showing your face off to more (and different) people. While JUVÉDERM® does not have a lengthy downtime or recovery period, it can take a couple weeks for your results to settle and become final. During this short recovery time, you will want to refrain from being out in the sun and keep from touching your face (or having others touch your face). So, if you are looking forward to enjoying those hot months in the very best of ways (including looking the way you want), then it is important to act now by scheduling your JUVÉDERM® consultation today!

For more information about JUVÉDERM®, please contact our office by calling our Murrieta location at 951-397-0530 or you may contact us online!

Have You Seen Our Photo Gallery?

Do you ever find yourself searching for the perfect doctor, and you think you’ve found them, but they don’t have a before and after photo gallery on its website? It can be frustrating because you won’t be able to see the results of their patients to see if their style is something you’d like for yourself. Look no further! SoCal Cool Body offers a photo gallery with before and after pictures of real-life patients who have undergone CoolSculpting®, BOTOX® Cosmetic, and JUVÉDERM® treatments at our office.

Why Is a Photo Gallery Important?

By looking at the results of other patients from their treatments, you are able to better understand what that specific treatment can give you. Additionally, making sure that the practice has a photo galler on their website is a way to judge the quality of that practice. A photo gallery is a way for surgeons to proudly showcase their work and the results that can be achieved. That is why SoCal Cool Body is happy to share plenty of examples of previous treatments online and in person at your consultation.

Before and After results for CoolSculpting® Elite in the mid and lower abs

CoolSculpting®

At SoCal Cool Body, we offer CoolSculpting® to eliminate fat deposits in hard-to-reach areas of the body. CoolSculpting® is the one and only FDA-cleared treatment to eliminate stubborn fat in nine different areas of the body, including under the chin and jawline areas, thighs, abdomen, flanks, bra fat, back fat, underneath the buttocks, and the upper arms. Once the fat is frozen, it is naturally eliminated from the body over time, resulting in a beautifully sculpted and contoured body shape.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX® Cosmetic temporarily reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. The most common areas include the crow’s feet, between the brows, and on the forehead. BOTOX® Cosmetic results last about three months before touch-up treatments are needed. If you like the results you are getting, then a maintenance plan should be set up so that you can continue experiencing the smooth results of this injectable treatment.

JUVÉDERM®

Another injectable treatment offered by SoCal Cool Body is JUVÉDERM®. JUVÉDERM® is a dermal filler, which means that it replaces lost volume in the skin that may be the result of age or lifestyle. The active ingredient in this dermal filler is hyaluronic acid, which helps to stimulate the production of collagen and hydrate the skin, producing a more rejuvenated appearance to your face.

Why Is BOTOX® Cosmetic the Injectable of Choice?

Do you long for a smooth, wrinkle-free facial appearance? The creams and other treatments used in the past just aren’t cutting it? Well, that’s why you should choose BOTOX® Cosmetic. BOTOX® Cosmetic is synonymous with injectable treatments because it actually works and provides noticeable results. This injectable treatment is made up of botulinum toxin A that immobilizes the muscles to improve the appearance of crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, and other lines in the upper portion of the face, revealing a fresh, younger-looking facial aesthetic.

The First of Its Kind

BOTOX® Cosmetic is the first and only product of its kind to be FDA approved for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet in men and women over the age of 18. Since 2002, BOTOX® Cosmetic has sold more than 100 million vials, it is manufactured to the strict quality standards in 98 countries, and there are over 4,700 peer-reviewed articles about this top injectable treatment.

It Is Effective

One of the reasons BOTOX® Cosmetic is the injectable of choice is because it is effective. When you come in for a consultation, you will be evaluated and examined by Dr. Moore and given the chance to explain your concerns and goals. At that point, you and Dr. Moore will be able to determine the best placement for your treatments. Once the injectable is inserted into the treatment area, the solution will begin its magic. BOTOX® Cosmetic temporarily immobilizes the muscles in the treated area, resulting in a smoother complexion.

BOTOX Treatment Areas

The good thing about BOTOX® Cosmetic is that it can treat many areas on the face to provide both men and women with a smooth appearance. BOTOX® Cosmetic can treat:

  • Forehead lines
  • Frown lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Bunny lines

No Downtime Needed

This minimally invasive treatment does not require any downtime after your injection. However, it is recommended that exercise is avoided for 24 hours so that the solution does not spread to other parts of the body. Most patients receive this treatment during their lunch break, before school pick up, or whenever there is free time because it does not take long to perform. Results last up to 3-4 months, so patients who want to maintain their relaxed, flawless look should schedule repeat maintenance treatments to achieve similar results.

For more information about BOTOX® Cosmetic, please contact our office by calling our Murrieta location at 951-397-0530 or you may contact us online
