Skin Care Matters

Your skin is one of the most important parts about you. It protects you, makes you look human, and is really the first thing that others notice about you. Because of these qualities, it is important to keep your skin healthy, fresh, and in good condition. Figuring out a good skin care routine is the first thing you need to do, and you need to do it fast so that you are able to treat any conditions that may arise before they become problematic. While many people worry about what their skin care routine should be, it is really not that difficult or that scary. The most challenging part is finding what works for you. Everyone has different skin types, and what works for your friend may not work for you, and that is completely okay. However, the three lessons below are good places to start when figuring out how to keep your skin healthy and vibrant.

1. Hydrate

It’s not a secret. Hydration is vital to living. Just think about it: you can’t survive without water, and in many ways, your skin is the exact same. When you use moisturizers, whether it be creams or other beauty care products, you will notice that your skin looks and feels soft, smooth, and healthy. And, even more important than the look and feel of your skin is its health. Wrinkles, fine lines, and even other blemishes, like scars and pigmentation issues, can be minimized with moisturizers that include additives like hyaluronic acid (HA).

2. Wear SPF

While there is nothing better than soaking up the summer sun, the ultraviolet rays can wreak havoc on your skin. You’ve probably heard it all your life: “Wear your sunblock.” Well, your grandmother or mom was absolutely correct. Sunscreen is more important and more effective than many people realize. And the higher the SPF, the better. While many doctors and plastic surgeons recommend that you should wear sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, the higher the number you go, the more effective you will be in protecting your skin. Still, no matter how high the SPF you choose to wear, it is important that you limit your exposure to direct sunlight. This means getting out of the sun and into the shade intermittently. And always reapply sunscreen throughout the day!

3. Start Early

One of the biggest mistakes that a lot of people make with their skin care is that they wait until a problem develops, whether that be something as simple as the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines or something much more serious, like the development of precancerous melanoma. Instead, you want to make sure that you are treating your skin correctly as soon as you can. You can never be too early in treating your skin right. Whether it be creams, moisturizers, injectable treatments or dermal fillers, make sure that your skin looks exactly like you want it to look. That way you can look as great as you feel.
